The Ladies That Lead Tour
Presented by The BOSS Network
Grave Shift Studios has been fortunate to document the Ladies That Lead Tour experience presented by The BOSS Network. Sponsored by Prudential, the event highlights influential women of color; who can inspire other women by sharing their strategies and journey to success. This event celebrates female leadership and encourages women to pursue their ambitions.
Panels spotlight leaders not only in their industry but in their community, setting a standard for what success looks like and owning their power. Hosted by BOSS Network founder Cameka Smith, recent tours have been headlined by Beverly Johnson (model, actress, and businesswoman) and Michelle Williams (member of the Grammy award winning group Destiny’s Child).
For The Artist
Your Content is King
DOX management reached out to us to produce visuals for his upcoming mixtape. The presentation would be used to reintroduce DOX to his audience. Along with a music video, we suggested an EPK capturing an intimate dialogue about his journey thus far, and the outlook of his career.
Giving listeners snippets of what to expect, he EPK consisted of several motion graphic vignettes accompanying choice tracks from his mixtape, .
On the eve of the release, DOX was so impressed with the graphics produced for the EPK that he requested some graphical elements be re-purposed as the actual package design for the final release.
Grits & Biscuits
Overview
Brooklyn. 2009. Grits & Biscuits was born. Once a party series promoted solely by word of mouth, Grits & Biscuits has transformed into an international brand consistently selling out 2000+ capacity venues. Exclusively showcasing southern hip-hop, the brand serves a unique audience that was raised in, went to college in, or just appreciates “dirty south” culture.
Grits & Biscuits attracts a diverse group of urban professionals who typically wouldn’t be expected to party together. Lawyers, doctors, athletes and celebrities are known to attend religiously. Southern hospitality is at the heart of the brand and everyone is encouraged to come as they are. VIP sections and bottle service are taboo and all patrons are treated equally (even Jay-Z and Beyonce).
Grits & Biscuits has performed on stage at Jay-Z’s Budweiser Made In America Festival, Brooklyn’s Afropunk Festival and been featured in Fader, Black Enterprise, Complex, and Parlour magazines.
The Need
After that first sold out event there was a heavy circulation of personal photos shared by attendees on their own social media pages but no official photos. The Grits & Biscuits team needed the ability to sculpt their brand with images they could curate and promote for themselves.
The Solution
Grave Shift Studios invariably delivers high quality work that helps to enhance Grits & Biscuits’ already strong reputation. Images are created with both the brand and audience in mind. For Grits & Biscuits, we focus on displaying the fun, energy and diversity of each event. For the audience, our focus is capturing shareable and engaging memories that leave viewers not wanting to miss the next party.
The Result
The visual tone that Grave Shift Studios has established for Grits & Biscuits over the years fuels a large part of the brand’s identity beyond the core party experience. In a social media driven world, our engaging photographs coupled with the event’s strong word-of-mouth serve as a strong marketing tool for the fans and brand alike.

Billtrust
Overview
A satisfied Grave Shift Studios customer referred our services to the Billtrust marketing team. By improving and simplifying the online billing process, Billtrust has developed products and services dedicated to saving customers time and money. Billtrust has partnerships with more than a dozen software companies, buying groups, and trade associations who have selected them as their preferred billing service provider. Some of their clients include Chiquita Brands International, New Balance, Cobra PUMA Golf, and East Coast Metal Distributors.
The Need
Unimpressed with a previous venture in to video marketing, Billtrust was in need of new materials that promoted unique real-world uses of their products and services.
The Solution
What better way to spotlight real-world uses, than from the mouths of the actual customer! Grave Shift Studios sat down with the Billtrust marketing team and developed a list of questions tailored to learning why clients switched to Billtrust, their transition, and most importantly how they individually utilize the services.
The Result
The Grave Shift Studios team traveled to Philadelphia for the Billtrust User Summit where we assembled a collection of testimonials that went beyond what we set out to capture. Customers earnestly reflected on customer service, ease of use, and their general love for the product; delivering entertaining and poignant testimonials. The final videos were displayed across all of Billtrust social media outlets.
